Funeral music - the musical setting of the ceremony
Live music or the favourite pieces of the deceased, played at the right moment. We provide sound equipment in the farewell hall and at the graveside, and help select a repertoire that matches the character of the ceremony.

Music at the successive stages of the farewell
Music gives structure to the ceremony and gives loved ones a moment to pause. It usually appears at four points: at the entrance and the greeting of those gathered, during the farewell at the coffin or urn, at the procession out, and at the end by the grave.
Farewell in the hall. In our farewell hall at Stare Powązki we have our own sound system - you can play chosen recordings or invite a musician. This is the moment most often chosen for pieces outside the sacred repertoire.
Religious ceremony. The parish decides on the setting of the Mass and a sacred repertoire usually applies. We will agree the details on your behalf, and the pieces close to the deceased will be moved to the farewell in the hall or at the graveside.
Secular ceremony. Here the repertoire is entirely free. We put the script together with the celebrant, matching the music to the speeches and memories - see how a secular funeral proceeds.
At the graveside. A trumpet or a violin at the end is increasingly common - also at a funeral with a military honour guard (military funeral).
How to send us the repertoire
The simplest way is to give us a list of titles with performers or to send the files - by e-mail or on a USB stick. Please pass them on at the latest the day before the ceremony so we can calmly check the quality of the recordings and their order.
If you are not sure what to choose, simply tell us a few words about the deceased - what they listened to, whether the ceremony should be more traditional or more personal. We will suggest solutions that work well at farewells and let you know in advance what the parish allows.
