After the death of a loved one first you need to call a doctor, who will confirm the death and issue the medical certificate of death (at home - the family doctor or the emergency service; in hospital - the doctor on duty). Then it is worth calling a funeral home - we will collect the deceased at any hour and take over the formalities. You do not have to make every decision at once. When the death occurred at home
Call a doctor - during the day the family doctor (POZ), at night or on holidays the emergency service (tel. 999 or 112). The doctor confirms the death and issues the medical certificate of death. Only once it has been issued may the funeral home collect the body. If the circumstances are sudden or unclear, the doctor may notify the police or the prosecutor's office - this is a standard procedure.
When death occurred in a hospital or hospice
The medical certificate of death is issued by the doctor at the facility. The staff will inform you of the next steps and when the deceased can be collected. The choice of funeral home always belongs to the family - the hospital cannot impose one.
Death at night or at the weekend - who certifies the death (NiŚOZ)
If the death occurs at night, at the weekend or on a public holiday, it is confirmed by the doctor on duty as part of night and holiday healthcare service (NiŚOZ) - it operates Monday to Friday from 18:00 to 8:00 and around the clock on non-working days. You can use any location NiŚOZ (night and holiday healthcare), regardless of your place of residence or clinic. The doctor issues the medical certificate of death, without which the funeral home cannot collect the body.
- Emergency or resuscitation: call 999 or 112. If the circumstances are unclear, the doctor or paramedics notify the police or the prosecutor’s office - this is a standard procedure.

You can call at any hour, including at night - even just to calmly ask what to do next. Once the medical certificate of death has been issued we come, take the deceased into our care with due dignity and transport them to cold storage. From that moment we handle most of the formalities.

What to prepare for the meeting with the funeral home?
